Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe with Easy Icing

Deliciously soft sugar cookies, perfect for decorating and spreading holiday cheer.


Ingredients

• 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 tsp baking powder
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1 large egg, room temperature
• 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 1/4 tsp almond extract (optional)
• 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
• 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional for icing)
• 2 tsp light corn syrup
• 4.5–5 tbsp room temperature water
• Pinch of salt
• Gel food coloring & sprinkles (optional)


Instructions

1️⃣ Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
2️⃣ Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg, vanilla, and almond extract.
3️⃣ Mix in dry ingredients to form dough.
4️⃣ Divide, roll to 1/4 inch, chill for 1 hour.
5️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut shapes from chilled dough.
6️⃣ Bake 11-12 minutes. Cool completely.
7️⃣ Whisk icing ingredients. Adjust consistency.
8️⃣ Decorate cookies, let icing set for 24 hours. Enjoy!
